Penstemon/ Beardtongue

Penstemon thrive in dry sunny locations where they attract hummingbirds, and other pollinators. Varieties come in pinks, whites, blues, purples, and reds. They are best planted in groups rather than singles. Penstemon are well behaved in the garden so give them some elbow room around vigorous growers. They pair well in perennial beds with upright sedums, dianthus, and yarrow. Add compost in clay soils to give them some extra punch.

The variety shown is ‘Pike’s Peak Purple’
