Everybody loves ferns, and if you don’t, Ostrich Fern’s forgiving nature might just change your mind. Like other ferns, this one prefers more humidity than we typically have so select a place that has plenty of shade to prevent scorched leaves. Add plenty of compost to provide a nice, light, high humus soil. Once Ostrich Fern is established it really makes a statement and is likely to spread so pick an area that can take a few big plants. This may take a few years so don’t be discouraged if you see it dying back occasionally, just trim out the brown and keep going.
