Joe Pye Weed is an extremely tall perennial that blooms late in the year with large pink flowers. Few perennials are as tall or showy as Joe Pye Weed so it is an excellent candidate for planting along walls or structures where vertical interest is needed. It has been described as a butterfly magnet that also provides nectar to hummingbirds. If the height is intimidating, try the smaller (2′ tall) variety ‘Baby Joe.’
