Bleeding hearts have a mounded growth habit with fleshy light green foliage. Some types have extremely finely textures leaves. This plant performs the best in afternoon shade with a nice dose of morning sun. Provide adequate moisture to prevent it from drying out. If you notice your bleeding heart yellowing and dying back it is most likely planted in an area with too much afternoon sun. Cut it back and move it somewhere that is a bit cooler later in the day.
Variety shown is ‘Spectabilis’ the standard pink bleeding heart.
